I feel like they may have let Dayton slide in, but the ghost of Judy's daughter Cassie on the team remains. By their standards, Cassie should've neverrr made it and people let them know it still today. Dayton just makes me sad. It's like the whole convincing herself she wants it, but the motive is just one for her mom, not truly her. I want her to move on and find something for her sooo much

Totally agree, watching the early episodes now and Cassie def wasn’t up to par and everyone knew it. 😬

“Her own inability to process emotional discomfort is evident in the way she reacts so poorly to her daughter's emotions.”

I wish all parents would realize this!

Whoa. We just moved from Frisco and lived right near the Star practice center. We are not from Dallas. But it’s literally the entire VIBE of the city! Fitting a mold, very conformist, it’s the car, the house, the highlights and eyelashes, the Dallas LOOK. It’s church on Sunday, mani pedi perfect. The whole city feels inauthentic. We stayed 4 years and were grateful for a job relocation and left. All to say. These sweet girls deserve so much MORE.

So glad you highlighted the mother/daughter dynamics. I feel like it is such a curse to be a DCC kid, because how on earth could you possibly live up to Mom's legacy? Like, it's so obvious that neither Victoria nor Dayton naturally have whatever their moms have - and I don't even mean that in terms of skill or beauty or whatever (which they clearly have). I mean that in... whatever natural instinct, natural DESIRE to be in that world, and natural charisma that made them a good fit for it and it a good fit for them. Neither of their moms were trying to prove something beyond whatever they were trying to prove to themselves. The added layer of family pressure or comparison is just so big and so destructive, and you can see both of these girls getting crushed under that weight. Both are such beautiful dancers, in a totally different way than their moms. And it's so sad they didn't feel full permission and support and freedom and encouragement to express that in another arena. Like I wish both moms had been like PLEASE don't do DCC - that's not gonna make you happy. Let's find where YOU shine.

I'm curious how Victoria is doing now. I follow her on Instagram and it looks like she's teaching dance in New York, and likely isn't a Rockette...? I can't get a read on how she actually is, though. If she's happy, if it's better for her. She says it is, but she would...

This was so well said. You nailed it with why it’s so crushing to watch it. It’s def a type of personality that makes it in that world, so true. I see Victoria too on social media! She’s so sweet, anytime I’ve posted a pink aura story about her she reshares it 🥹

Omg it's soooo cute and sweet that Victoria reposts! It must feel so good to her to feel seen and appreciated. I think you really do that for people, and I bet for pinks in particular (because they're so often misunderstood). I want you to be, like, her surrogate mom lol. AURA MOM.

I used to watch the DCC Making the Team show in the early 2000s, and somehow missed they rebooted it! Kelli and Judy having red and yellow makes so much sense.

I used to watch this 10 years ago after moving from Dallas (hate the cowboys btw 😉). I didn't know what about it I liked but watch I did!.(I'm 🌀💚💛) Having lived in DFW I knew how much the whole "Metroplex" (what the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is refered as) was obsessed with all things Cowboys Football. Of course Kelly is ❤️💜!!! And live you said 🌀 it won't work move on lol

Victoria and her mom made me so sad to watch in season 1 (her bday party 😢), but love the logic colors in S2 coming in to get things done! I don’t think Dayton should’ve been invited to training camp if they knew she wasn’t going to make it (and I felt like they knew). This breakdown is awesome, thank youuu! 💙🌀💜

This feels so validating to read, I had so many thoughts while watching… My middle 💜💧 and youngest 💧💜💗daughters watched with me, they are dancers, and they were both like “we would never do this” haha.

Honestly, I was so so glad to see Victoria get out of Dallas, go to NYC, and have something besides DCC to live for. They were terrible to her and for her.

I just started watching the series yesterday and I have so many random or disjointed thoughts about the series: 1.) Kelli and Judy really seem to play up the theatrics when cutting a girl (i.e., crying, saying “it’s hard for us too!”). 2.) i’m surprised by the DCC alumni moms, who know Kelli, and that they would ever allow their daughters to be in a situation where they are scrutinized or covertly tortured by Kelli 3.) I am also very curious to know what Michele “Sharpie” Sharp’s colors are… My guess is yellow turquoise.

Are any of the girls featured in either season green?? Or turquoise?!

Charley! She’s turquoise yellow and Abby is green purple. Abby was the “muscular one” who they were like “shoulders!” And omg that was hard to watch, 💚💜 women are such amazing role models .
